The Bill of Act amending the Microorganisms and Genetically Modified Organisms Act and other acts amend the current Microorganisms and Genetically Modified Organisms Act of 22 June 2001 (Journal of Laws of 2015, item 806 and 2016) Item 2003). In the explanatory justifiability it was pointed out that the main purpose of the bill is:
· Supplement of the implementation to the Polish Law provisions of the Directive 2001/18/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 March 2001 on the deliberate release into the environment of genetically modified organisms and repealing Council Directive 90/220/EEC (Official Journal L 106, 17/04/2001 P. 0001 – 0039), hereinafter referred to as “Directive 2001/18 / EC” regulating the deliberate release of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) into the environment, placing GMO’s products on the market and their use in crops. · increasing the safety level for human health and the environment by establishing mechanisms to effective control and reduce of GMO’s crops.
As follows for the legislative works located on the Polish Parliament’s webpage, the bill is currently being analized by the Committee on the Environment, Natural Resources and Forestry and the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development.
